New Delhi: Bellatrix Aerospace, a start-up based in Bengaluru, has announced its plans to broaden its operations into the United States, including the establishment of a propulsion systems manufacturing facility in Delaware aimed at serving the US market.
To spearhead its US operations, the company has appointed Chris MacDonald, a former founder of a satellite telecommunications firm, as its vice president.
The start-up has already entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a leading US satellite manufacturer, designating Bellatrix as their preferred propulsion partner.
"Expanding into the US has always been a key objective for us. With three successful propulsion missions under our belt, we are confident that our expertise in propulsion technology and our commitment to reliability will resonate well within the burgeoning US commercial sector," stated Yashas Karanam, COO and Co-Founder of Bellatrix Aerospace.
Bellatrix is known for producing sustainable space propulsion systems and was the pioneer in developing high-performance green propulsion alternatives in India, along with integrating heater-less hollow cathodes in Hall-effect thrusters for global commercial applications.
With three successful missions, the start-up collaborates with ISRO and other leading global commercial entities to foster innovation in space exploration and satellite operations.
MacDonald expressed excitement about bringing Bellatrix's advanced satellite propulsion technology to the US, with plans for a manufacturing facility to be launched shortly.
He emphasized that Bellatrix is set to redefine space propulsion with industry-leading lead times, innovative propulsion systems, and exceptional cost-effectiveness.
"In addition to providing reliable propulsion solutions, we are dedicated to being a trusted partner in ensuring mission success," MacDonald added.
Previously, MacDonald held the position of Director of Business Development at Terran Orbital and Astra.
